Western states can get overlooked when it comes to Fall Foliage. I have often heard people from various parts of the country which are know for fall colors talk about how the west is a landscape barren of all color and could not possibly have colors like New England etc.. While the Wasatch might not have the sheer volume of foliage as say Maine or New Hampshire, the sparsity of color can produce a quilted, calico look that is unparalleled anywhere in the country.

Years with a lot of moisture like 2012, the reds seem to really dominate the landscape creating endless tunnels of color,ff2

Once the Fruity Pebbles start to fade, the whole range takes on a gold and red hue,

Sometimes we even get a little frosting on top of those colors!

Fall turns the Wasatch range into a dreamscape back drop for all outdoor activities!
Keep on snapping!

Circle O Slick Rock on the Brand Trails.

One thing about Nordic skiing is that every part of your body needs to be fit to maximum capacity! Just thinking about that is tiring so cross training for XC has to be fun! Seriously, what is more fun than mountain biking in Moab Utah? For training purposes it provides all body/cardio ass beatings at will. The scenery is alien, other worldly, dinosaur country and the trails are UNREAL!

State of the Art trail building right here.

To train properly it is key to have an ample supply of training partners to shred red dirt an slick rock with. Luckily Pedal n Pole has NO shortage of those!(in fact some of our friends really need to get jobs an quit riding/sliding all the time!!) Busting your ass to catch a action wife or buddy who has put a gap on you while your trying to get up an over lizard an cactus covered red rocks sure is easier than doing intervals on roller skis!(ROLLERSKIING SUCKS! Did I just say that out loud…

Scoville ALWAYS has time to ride........

October and early November are some of the best times of year to spend in Moab. Everyday starts to blur down a little; sunshine, 58f, t-shirts/baggies, blue skies, sunscreen, big bikes, lounge chairs and beers in the parking lot. So many killer trails to choose from. In the blink of an eye the truck is being packed to head home and you don’t even realize you were down in the desert “training”.

The new Jurrasic trail; whole thing is that buff!

Keep riding!! PPPC.

Thank You Dr. Metcalf!

Pedal N Pole is Back! We could not be stopped despite;
1) not posting since April of 2012
2) losing 1.5 inches of long bicep tendon
3) popping my SI joint out of place
4) getting a full time job online
5) enduring the worst Nordic season snowfall in recent Park City History
6) missing all Nordic races for the first time in 12 years!
Ok, I think that does it. Basically Nordic season 2012/2013 was kind of my 2009 global financial meltdown. But thanks to modern surgery, physical therapy, and a solid nutrition program-2013/2014 is going to be the best season ever!! Actually already got 15k on snow yesterday and it felt awesome!! Keep Skating!!
