Dawn Patrol(scroll down to Alex Lowe); the act of gettin out an gettin it before gettin to the office or keyboard.

Here in the Wasatch, Dawn Patrol is on every day. When you arrive at the trail head to start in on the gettin, there will definitely be other like minded sliders with the same goal-TO GET SOME POW BEFORE THE SHACKLES OF THE KEYBOARD OR OFFICE ARE FIRMLY CLAMPED DOWN!
(as always give them pics a click an they get real big an pretty…)

Unshackled Intern with dreams of gettin it.

Unshackled Intern with dreams of gettin it.

Now the process of Dawn Patrolin takes a little effort, organization, and timeliness in one’s doing’s. As in if you want to get the pow an be at work by 9am, your gettin up really early. Usually 5am and your pack, skis and anything else you plan on patrolin with has to organized and ready to go so that it can be put in the truck without any rummaging around the garage to find a avy beacon or shovel or whatever.

Pack, skis, poles, pow, check....Time to Patrol!

Pack, skis, poles, pow, check….Time to Patrol!

In a million or so years I never would have believed the Intern (who cannot even be trusted to write up a decent review of Utah Ski Resort Apres Skiing) would possess any of the aforementioned traits to be able to get up an at a Dawn Patrol!

Intern gettin it.

Intern gettin it.

Well I was definitely wrong on this one. Not only was the Intern organized, he actually showed up 5 minutes early!

Living the pre-keyboard dream!

Living the pre-keyboard dream!

Normally you can’t even find the guy around the office when something needs to get done but somehow or another he is able to be at one’s garage at 540 am with Pack, Skis, and Poles ready to go!

While the Intern did really step up for Dawn Patrol, the same cannot be said for the rest of the day at the office;

As usual I am fully engaged and focused on running the e-commerce powerhouse that is Pedal N Pole and just don’t have time to get these damn posts out. This is why we hired an Intern so that posts would go up on a weekly if not daily basis but things just have not worked out quite so seamlessly.

For instance; Here is how I found the intern almost a full week late getting back to the PPPC offices after the trip to his special bakery in Colorado;

Really starting to question the credentials of this Faber College.

Really starting to question the credentials of this Faber College.

I am not sure if the intern really ever woke up or was even mentally back from Rado but he was given a very specific task with the threat of all college credit being revoked if it was not completed ASAP!

You would think rating the Apres Ski scene’s at our local Utah resort’s would be a fun and challenging task for a young greenhorn Intern as opposed to say refiling TPS reports for all PPPC employees and expectations were pretty high for this project and the anticipated spike in net traffic which would also result in a ton of e-commerce activity so we could maybe pay some bills around here!

Was I sadly mistaken and while I gave a specific directive; The Intern had other plans. I wasn’t sure whether to publish this or deport the intern back to Cleveland but I didn’t have time for a full re-edit so here it is, through the eye’s of the Intern;

After making it through this post, first thing I did was find the Intern and put him in time out;

This close to getting deported back to Cleveland!

Do you really want to be sent back to Cleveland!?

Maybe the Intern will get a shot a redemption, maybe……..

Keep on Apresing(PPPC cannot confirm this is an actual word)!

PPPC!

So the intern has the weekend off, he was mumbling something about being out of baked goods and he had to go to Colorado to his “Special” bakery. Ok, whatever, I guess I will just have to run the blog on what should be my day off. Since the Intern would have to have done the tedious portion of laying out the photo’s into the WordPress template and resizing them and all of that crap that makes me want to start punching my cats, I am putting as little effort into this post as possible.

With that said,

Here are some random photo’s from the past week;

AND THEN SOMETHING REALLY AMAZING HAPPENED!!(seriously, is there anything more tiring than this phrase attached to anything?)

The Intern is going to have a lot of cleaning up to do around here!

(All Pedal-n-Pole photo’s are shot on a Canon G1X)

With all of the riding, trail running, and Nordic sliding that goes on around here at PPPC, overall body fitness is key to being able to do these sports on a regular basis and in an enjoyable manner over the long term. Also, you might remember that we just got an intern around here and for his first big assignment it was decided he would look into the emerging work related trend that is aimed at improving overall fitness.

What!!? Improved fitness through something involving being at work? Something that burns an additional 310 calories a day and improves circulation with no gym involved?! Dreams do come true! Welcome to the world of……….THE STAND UP DESK!!!!!

IMG_6325

Here we have some healthy posture on display.

At his normal desk the Intern would be sad and very cramped;

Very poor, sad posture.

There are even Stand Ups that switch modes at the touch of a button!

When all of that sitting has got you down,

Just push the button and;

Free at last!

Free at last!

Few tips for using a Stand Up; 1) get a tall stool with a back so you can alternate sitting and standing, 2) most importantly, alternate resting a foot off the ground as this greatly reduces back strain from the standing position.

There are a lot of other parameters as with any office desk set up so if you do decide to make the switch, do some research first as to what will work with your specific physique and make sure your set up is ergonomically correct!

Over here at the PPPC office, we will be standing!

So I opened up the PPPC office the other day an noticed that the last time a post went up was 12/31/13!! How on earth did this happen again? Almost two full months have gone by without a post. Sadly, this is a massive disappointment on so many levels;
1) PPPC recently bought a new camera an despite the fact that the blog owner/operator skis everyday, not a single ski photo has been taken since 12/31/13
2) PPPC had all these plans to post up daily articles about nutrition, workouts, cute/whimsical(what in the hell is a “stride box”?) type stuff, or even what outfit I am working out in that day;

IMG_0847

Let’s take this out for a trot around the block……

But as usual-NONE OF IT HAPPENED!!

Luckily here in America when you can’t get all of your work done you can get someone to do it for FREE! And after an exhaustive search; Pedal n Pole has hired an intern!

IMG_6328

SHHH!! Intern working.

PPPC decided to give this guy a chance due to the fact he claims he can get a Bryan Fletcher post Sochi interview and always seems to have large amounts on barrel aged spirit’s on hand. The Intern’s duties will include editing, content production, daily cleaning of the PPPC office facilities, vehicles, as well as daily ski tunes for both Tele and Nordic gear along with anything else we the management feel is vital for operational success. The intern has been warned that if he fails to fulfill these duties, his services and passport will be traded out to Trail Run Girl where he will immediately and for eternity find himself editing posts on hot cocoa, pink running shoes, and leggings!

So come along for the outdoor adventure and photography as Pedal N Pole Park City works to maxmize it’s return on The Intern!
